William & Diane Trimble Scholarship

Sandpipers first-ever named scholarship, the William and Diane Trimble Scholarship was created by Diane and her daughter, Karen Trimble Krause (Life Member, Past President, creator of the Sandpipers Back-to-School Shopping Spree; and Endowment Steering Committee Member) to honor both Diane and her late husband William’s commitment to higher education, working with youth, community service, and the South Bay.

Lifelong residents of Redondo Beach, William and Diane, their parents, and their children, all graduated from Redondo Union High School. Bill and Diane married shortly after her graduation in 1961 and remained married until Bill’s passing in 1995. They encouraged and supported each other in the pursuit of degrees in higher education during their marriage.

William was a successful businessman, tremendous athlete (volleyball, track, high jump), and dedicated husband and father. Diane was head of the Parent Education Department for Torrance Unified School District for almost 40 years, a talented artist, dedicated community service volunteer at their church (Immanuel Lutheran), and to this day a staunch supporter of Sandpipers.

It is the hope of the Trimble family that the recipient of this scholarship will adopt a life of service to their community and give back to those in need.
