Provisional (a first-year member), Active, and Junior Associate (a member who has been involved for five years) members make up the bulk of Sandpipers’ membership. They are involved year-round with all aspects of the organization, from fundraising, community outreach, community service, and other philanthropic initiatives. 

Serving on committees or in leadership positions, our volunteers play an active role in developing and executing our programs. From bringing our fundraisers to life or engaging face-to-face with our agency partners and constituents, our volunteers are the backbone of Sandpipers. 

Our membership is made up of a diverse group of women who share common ground on giving back to their community. But it is because of their passion and hands-on work together they often find lifelong friendships even beyond volunteering. It’s with this camaraderie you will sense a positive, spirited, and fun group of women.

After six years of membership, Associates remain involved and continue to strengthen our organization by sharing their wisdom, knowledge, and dedication with the rest of the membership. But just because they have fulfilled their years as Actives doesn’t mean they aren’t busy leading their own charitable initiatives. 

Led by the Sandpiper of the Year, our Associates meet regularly to discuss philanthropic, community service, and fundraising goals with a focus on the senior community in need. Their primary fundraising source is their active role in Founders’ Day, raising donations with the auction and opportunity baskets. A unique quality of this group is their camaraderie and social component. After many years of volunteering together, they have built long-standing friendships and happily welcome new Associates into the fold. This group makes it a priority to venture out to experience the culture and vibrancy Los Angeles offers.
