Sandpipers’ Member Benefits

Make a difference, develop skills, and share experiences with lifelong friends.

Being a Sandpiper is an enriching experience, leaving members feeling fulfilled through year-long selfless acts of service. In addition to giving back, members have opportunities to further their leadership skills and establish deeper connections with fellow members!

Beyond helping those in need, you can achieve personal and professional development, including:

  • Improving communication skills and public speaking

  • Experiencing a culture of teamwork and collaboration

  • Developing time management and project planning skills

Another primary reason to join Sandpipers is to serve alongside other women who share a goal and vision for philanthropic endeavors, and along the way, forge friendships and establish a sense of camaraderie.

We do important work and have a fabulous time doing it!

Being a Sandpiper has been the roots to the community I so badly craved. When I moved to the South Bay 10 years ago, I didn’t know anyone. Joining Sandpipers opened the door to connection with like-minded, fun, and kind women who welcomed me with open arms. Now, our family has another branch on our tree. The Sandpipers Family… one I am so proud to be a part of!

Sandpipers’ 2020-2021 Co-President
My favorite part of being a Sandpiper is working alongside awe-inspiring leaders, hardworking, committed volunteers and a dedicated sisterhood of members. It's truly inspiring and rewarding seeing first-hand, the impact, kindness, and generosity in our local community.

Sandpiper Committees

Something for everyone

Each year, members are assigned to different committees to help bring our philanthropy programs and fundraising events to life. These committees vary in size and are each led by one to three chairpersons who have a Board partner to guide, support, and serve as a resource. This organized structure allows our members to successfully execute committee goals focused on serving those in need in our community.

There is a role in Sandpipers for everyone! No matter your skills or interests, our wide variety of committee opportunities allow you to learn and contribute while making a difference.

Adult and Youth Opportunities

Actives

Provisional (first-year member), Active, and Junior Associate (a member who has been involved for five years) members make up the bulk of Sandpipers’ membership. They are involved year-round with all aspects of the organization, from fundraising, community outreach, community service, and other philanthropic initiatives.

Associates

After six years of service, members can become Associates who remain involved and continue to strengthen our organization by sharing their wisdom, knowledge, and dedication with the rest of the membership. But just because they have fulfilled their years as Actives doesn’t mean they aren’t busy leading their own charitable initiatives.

Juniors

Sandpiper Juniors are youth volunteers preparing for life beyond high school by volunteering for those in need in their community. Under the guidance of Sandpiper Advisors and a liaison, these young adults are part of many decision-making processes to develop their volunteer activities and, because of that, hone their leadership and public speaking skills while building self-confidence. The program encourages independence of thought, yet teaches the importance of teamwork and fellowship to achieve common goals.

Pipers

Sandpiper Pipers are middle school-aged young adults who volunteer their time to make their community a better place. They are empowered to make their own decisions but have the support and guidance from Mom Mentors and Pipers’ Class Leaders and a Sandpipers Liaison.
