Membership with Sandpipers
Sandpipers offers a unique opportunity for women of all ages living in the South Bay to make a positive impact on their community through participation in charitable and philanthropic programs. In addition to the joy of “giving back”, members also benefit from enduring friendships formed - some lasting decades - while working alongside other women who are equally committed and big hearted!
The Sandpipers experience begins with a nine-month formal training program known as the Provisional Year. During this time, new members are introduced to the expectations and workings of the organization. Provisional meetings are held in addition to monthly General Meetings and are designed to accomplish three goals:
-
Educate new members about Sandpipers
-
Stimulate bonding among Provisional class members
-
Provide time to coordinate and work on a Provisional Project
Each Provisional member must fulfill the following requirements:
Pay $125 Annual Dues
-
Sell 7 tickets to the first fundraiser of the year - Holiday Homes Tour
-
Work two (2) shifts as a docent at the Holiday Homes Tour
-
Complete five (5) community service points (Activities)
-
Attend six (6) Provisional Meetings
-
Attend six (6) General Meetings
-
Complete 10 Committee Points
After successfully completing the Provisional Year, new members move on to Active Status and participate fully as voting members of Sandpipers. Active status continues for 5 subsequent years after which members may choose to move on to Associate status (fewer membership requirements) or remain Active.
Those interested in learning more about Sandpipers are cordially invited to attend any one of the monthly General Meetings.
