Directors

Looking to give back to the community, I began volunteering with Sandpipers in 2004. I found it inspiring that so many women are willing to spend their free time helping out in the community. Since joining, I have made wonderful friends and experienced many rewarding moments volunteering. One of my favorite things to do is to participate in our Summer Arts Program. It is a wonderful experience to help a child express himself or herself through art. Access to wonderful community service opportunities is one of the biggest reasons that I joined.  This year, as the Director of Community Service, my goal is to partner with our collaborating agencies to fulfill their needs, while at the same time, assuring that each Sandpipers member has a positive community service experience.

Extending a helping hand to our neighbors in need is what Sandpipers is all about!

As Director of Fall Events, my main role is to plan and oversee our annual Holiday Homes Tour which is scheduled for December 3rd, 4th, and 5th.  Holiday Homes Tour is Sandpipers' largest fundraiser and enables us to continue the many wonderful programs we support in the South Bay.  Since joining Sandpipers in 2007, I have chaired the Summer Arts program, assisted the Membership Vice President, and have especially enjoyed volunteering in many of our community service programs including Camp Escapades, Back to School shopping, and our Holiday Baskets program.  I am continually amazed at the dedication and generosity of our members and am always moved by the difference Sandpipers makes in the lives of so many members of our community.  Through Sandpipers, I have made wonderful friends while fulfilling my need to give back.  I am looking forward to another great year!

This is my fourth year in Sandpipers and I am honored to serve once more as the year’s Director of Publicity/Historian.  In my role I will be responsible for promoting Sandpipers events – fundraising, community service and philanthropy as well as representing Sandpipers in the South Bay Community to the local media.  I am very proud to be part of an organization that does so much for the local community.  The women of Sandpipers are so generous with their time, their knowledge and their love of giving back.

After moving to California from the East Coast I was looking for a way to be involved in my community.  I heard about Sandpipers from a friend of mine.  The more I heard, the more I knew it was the perfect fit.  I am so proud to say that I am a Sandpiper and I am so proud of this organization and all of the great things that it does for the South Bay.  Every time I fulfill a community service point or serve on a committee I have the great satisfaction of knowing that I made a difference in a person’s life.  This year I will be serving as the Director of Spring Events.  I am very excited to be working with all of the chairs and committee members of all of the Spring Events and I am looking forward to making each of these events a success.

After living in New York for almost ten years, I returned to the South Bay in 2008 and was looking for a way to reconnect with the community. Sandpipers has provided me the perfect opportunity to volunteer in our community while meeting some amazing people. Philanthropy and community service have always played a role in my life and Sandpipers has made giving back fun! This is my third year as a Sandpiper and I am excited to be the Director of Technology. In my role, I hope to encourage communication among Sandpipers Members and the public.  If you have any suggestions on how to make the website more informative, exciting or user friendly, I am always open to suggestions.  Please feel free to contact me at anytime.

As Director of Sandpipers South Bay Community Fund, my role is to manage and promote the growth of the Community Fund. It is an honor to represent Sandpipers throughout the community. From the moment our organization started, it has been our goal to extend a helping hand to our neighbors as a 100% volunteer organization. Sandpipers brings together a variety of philanthropic women pulling their resources and talents together in an amazing way to accomplish this goal. I look forward to the continued friendships and working with the wonderful women of this organization in 2010 – 2011.

Having always been philanthropically inclined, I joined Sandpipers in 2004 because I felt it was the perfect way to have an immediate impact on our community.  I was confident that with Sandpipers I could “hit the ground running” – something that’s important to me given that I work full-time (and then some!).  Additionally, I appreciate the many opportunities Sandpipers provides to contribute to the organization based on my personal interests and skill set.  This year is particularly exciting as I implement our new database initiative which will, over time, capture all our supporter data.  Given that we have 79 years of data - wish me luck!  (Just kidding. Sort of!)
