I joined Sandpipers in 2003 and have been a member of the board of directors since 2006. I love this organization and the wonderful things we do to help so many in our local community. Sandpipers is unique in so many ways, including the fact that we have no paid positions - we are all volunteers. I have so many favorite memories of my years in Sandpipers. I have loved helping our South Bay community and working with amazing, talented and devoted ladies who have given so much of their personal time to make a difference. Supported by a fantastic husband and three amazing daughters I have enjoyed giving back to the community and creating some very special friendships.
Having just concluded my year as Sandpipers' 78th President, I now have the honor of being Junior Past President and Chair of the Nomination Leadership Development committee slating the 2011-2012 board. Thank You!

As Sr. Past President of Sandpipers, Fall 2010 begins my 14th year as a member of Sandpipers and my eighth year on the board of directors. My intent in joining Sandpipers was to help others, but in doing so, have benefited from what Sandpipers has brought to me. Not only have my sons and husband been instilled with a sense of philanthropy but I have been privy to the benefits of working alongside hundreds of women with different perspectives and lifestyles, gaining so much appreciation for our individual talents combining for a common goal. This year I have the awesome responsibility of chairing the College Scholarship committee, our largest philanthropy program. I am honored to take on the task of spending your donations wisely and having a firsthand look at the promising youth of today.

My long and wonderful association with Sandpipers began in 1984. I already knew many members, and of the great work Sandpipers did for the community. As a Provisional, my first committee was Cook Books. I then went on to Co-Chair Ways and Means Committee and be the puppet Mandy with Kids on the Block. I then co-chaired Box Lunches. I stayed an extra year as an Active to Co-Chair Design House 1990 with my dearest friend Mickey Walker. Some of my fondest memories include doing community service such as Meals on Wheels, Sugarplum Tree and Christmas Baskets. To see the people’s faces and appreciation as we delivered both the meals and the Christmas Baskets, I was so proud to be part of Sandpipers. For me, Sandpipers is an idea as well as an organization. The idea of community service is at its heart--giving back and caring about and assisting others.
We do this together in our organization of friendship and the shared effort to achieve the spirit and idea of Sandpipers. We set great goals for ourselves as individuals and as members and this enriches each of us as it contributes to the lives in our community. As an Associate I have worked with many past Sandpiper of the Year. I now look forward to my year.
