Sandpipers has been my passion since I first joined in 1999 and officially became a member in the year 2000. I have had the pleasure of working with various talented and devoted ladies who've have given so much of their personal time to make a difference in somebody else's life. From fundraising to delivering a meal or just toasting at a social event. Sandpipers has fulfilled my life in so many ways.
Last year I had the most humbling and pleasure experience to serve as Sandpipers' 75th president. This year, is another wonderful year. I have the privilege and opportunity along with an amazing committee of 5 ladies to help slate the board for the year 2007/2008. The future of this organization lays in our hands. For this I'm very proud! There are many opportunities within Sandpipers. You too can make a difference.

I joined Sandpipers in 1995 and have been a member of the Board of Directors since 2001; holding positions as Director of Operations, Planning & Placement Vice President, Philanthropy Vice President, President Elect, President, Jr. Past President and currently, Sr. Past President. Prior to joining the Board, I Co-Chaired Holiday Homes Tour in addition to working on committees for Cookbook, Corporate Sponsorship, Holiday Homes Tour Staffing and Ticket Sales. As Sr. Past President, I act as an advisor to the Board. I am also responsible for administering the Scholarship and College Aid Program – one of Sandpipers greatest outreach programs. Through the Scholarship Program we provide financial support for nearly 40 young men and women. Our commitment to them is a way of showing that we believe in them and support their dreams – what an amazing opportunity!
My fondest memories in Sandpipers are of delivering Holiday Baskets with my family. While we provide for the many basic needs of each family during the hectic holiday season, we also provide them with a sense of hope and a feeling that someone cares – especially when they may be going through a difficult time. Sandpipers is truly a special organization – I hope you enjoy being a part of this fabulous group of women as much as I have.

Buckita joined Sandpipers in 1990. As an Active Member she served as Social Chair, Philanthropy Vice President, and Membership Vice President. By 1996, she was President. Sandpipers is pleased to honor Buckita Leff as the 2007 – 2008 Sandpiper of the Year.
