2010 - 2011 Sandpiper of the Year

The Sandpiper of the Year award is given to an Associate or Life member in recognition of, and appreciation for, her continued support, beyond her active years of Sandpiper work.  

This year's recipient joined Sandpipers 26 years ago in 1984 and was sponsored by Gay St. Clair and Rhea Ells. In her Provisional year she was involved with the Gala Provisional event and was on the Cook Book Sales Committee. (Yes, we had one back then!)  

She then went on to be the deaf puppet, Mandy ,with Kids on the Block, to work on Holiday Faire, and to Chair Ways and Means Committee.  

Design House was the biggest fundraiser at that time, lasting for 3 weeks.  She served on the Box Lunch Committee and in 1990 she Co-Chaired the entire event.

On becoming an Associate, this quiet,reserved, but intensely funny lady chaired the Founder's Day Boutique, after serving on the committee for several years.  

She has continued to offer support of Sandpipers  for over 20 years by stepping up to do whatever is needed to continue the great work of our organization.  

Outside of Sandpipers, she is very involved in Neighborhood Watch and has had a  career as a Flight Attendant with American Airlines for 40 years.  

This fabulous lady has left her indelible footprints with us and touched our hearts forever.
